Red face Video Out using VGA to RCA - Ubuntu 11.04

Hey folks, looking to hook a VGA to RCA connection from my laptop (Dell Inspiron 15N) to my old Slyvania Tube Television (yeah I know, tube). Just want to use it as a second monitor so I can play videos from my laptop on the television. I have done this in the past with an old Windows XP box (before I started using Linux :/). It worked fine, however I am concerned there is not much free software out there than can handle this, and where to find an appropriate piece of hardware. I have seen cables that are VGA to RCA. In the past I used an RF Switch Box that automattically detected a signal and used the TV as a second monitor. Any insight would be greatly appreciated, or if someone has already figured this out. Just let me know.
