Some suggestions from my fellow ubuntuers?

    Hi there.

Im running unity in a fujitsu siemes Amilo Pro from the middle ages. Intersetingly, everything went just right after the install and a couple of updates. I tried Unity 2D and I really do not like it. I have grown used to using screen borders to manage my windows (compiz-only feature), so I really want to keep Unity.

The thing is, CPU is at full capacity almost always. Im using just the default apps (gwibeer, empathy, chromium, evolution, etc). But I would like to take to weight off my poor old laptop's shoulders.

Do you have any advice on how to reduce CPU usage a little... no expecting miracles here tho...

    Cheers!

Try Lubuntu or a Debian netinst + XFCE.

Chromium (actually, most web browsers) will swallow a lot of space and so will Evolution.
