    11.04 - howto setup for dtv 2000 ds + y04g0051 remote ?

    What should I select within the Mythbuntu Control Centre's Infrared section to correctly enable my Leadtek WinFast DTV2000DS receiver and its Y04G0051 remote ?
    Ie:
    - Do I enable "USB & Serial Remote support via LIRC ?
    - What remote do I select ? Winfast TV2000/XP (card=34) ? or Winfast PVR2000 ? or something else ?
    - Do I enable "Generate dynamic button mappings" ? (whatever that is) ?
    - Do I enable "Generate frontend restart mapping (Power followed by Clear)" ? (whatever that is)
    - Do I need to "Enable an IR Transmitter" ? If so, which one ?

    Or does Mythbuntu and its Control Centre not suppport it and instead I need to follow these instructions (which is for Ubuntu 10.10) http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.ph...upport_.282.29?

    I'm running Xubuntu 11.04 x86 32 bit and its Mythbuntu Control Centre. I heard that its kernel, ie 2.6.38-8, includes support for this remote.

    Thanks.

    I just tried those instructions but I couldn't even get the /dev/input/dtv2000ds_remote device file created.

    Though the receiver is showing up in dmesg, eg:
    Code:
    [ 16.855897] input: IR-receiver inside an USB DVB receiver as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.4/0000:03:06.2/usb3/3-1/rc/rc0/input4
    [   16.855955] rc0: IR-receiver inside an USB DVB receiver as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.4/0000:03:06.2/usb3/3-1/rc/rc0

    Re: 11.04 - howto setup for dtv 2000 ds + y04g0051 remote ?

    I'm now using the the Mythbuntu 11.04 distribution.

    I've tried not enabling Lirc and instead rely upon mythbuntu's native support.

    The IR receiver has been detected. /proc/bus/input/devices reports it as:
    Code:
    I: Bus=0003 Vendor=0413 Product=6a04 Version=0200
    N: Name="IR-receiver inside an USB DVB receiver"
    P: Phys=usb-0000:03:06.2-1/ir0
    S: Sysfs=/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.4/0000:03:06.2/usb3/3-1/rc/rc0/input4
    U: Uniq=
    H: Handlers=kbd event4
    B: PROP=0
    B: EV=100013
    B: KEY=1000000 0 0 0 0
    B: MSC=10
    Remote key presses are visible via "/dev/input/event4". Eg the right arrow key press produces:
    Code:
    root@pvr:/proc/bus/input# cat -v /dev/input/event4
    ^YM-pM-@MM-^\W^A^@^D^@^D^@^D^C^@^@
    X is listening to /dev/input/event4, eg
    Code:
    root@pvr:/proc/bus/input# lsof /dev/input/event4
    COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE/OFF NODE NAME
    Xorg    1360 root   28u   CHR  13,68      0t0 7753 /dev/input/event4
    However Mythtv Frontend doesn't react to the remote's key presses regardless of whether the remote is in its "standard" mode or "MCE" mode.

    Anyone know what extra configurations need to be put in place for this remote to drive Mythtv ?

    Thanks,
    Declan

    Re: 11.04 - howto setup for dtv 2000 ds + y04g0051 remote ?

    Had another go of setting up lirc (without sucess):

    Used the Mythbuntu Control Centre's Infrared section to enable Lirc support. This installed the Lirc software.

    The Contol Centre supplies the choice of Winfast PVR2000 and Winfast TV2000/XP, neither seem to correspond to my DTV2000DS/Y04G0051. Neither worked for my remote, so had a go at setting Lirc up manually:

    Created following /etc/lirc/hardware.conf (based upon http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Le...upport_.282.29 recommendation):
    Code:
    # /etc/lirc/hardware.conf

    REMOTE="Leadtek dtv2000ds y04g0051"
    REMOTE_MODULES=""
    REMOTE_DRIVER="devinput"
    REMOTE_DEVICE="/dev/input/event4"
    REMOTE_LIRCD_CONF="/etc/lirc/lircd.conf"
    REMOTE_LIRCD_ARGS=""

    #Chosen IR Transmitter
    TRANSMITTER="None"
    TRANSMITTER_MODULES=""
    TRANSMITTER_DRIVER=""
    TRANSMITTER_DEVICE=""
    TRANSMITTER_LIRCD_CONF=""
    TRANSMITTER_LIRCD_ARGS=""

    #Enable lircd
    START_LIRCD="true"

    #Don't start lircmd even if there seems to be a good config file
    #START_LIRCMD="false"

    #Try to load appropriate kernel modules
    LOAD_MODULES="true"

    # Default configuration files for your hardware if any
    LIRCMD_CONF=""

    #Forcing noninteractive reconfiguration
    #If lirc is to be reconfigured by an external application
    #that doesn't have a debconf frontend available, the noninteractive
    #frontend can be invoked and set to parse REMOTE and TRANSMITTER
    #It will then populate all other variables without any user input
    #If you would like to configure lirc via standard methods, be sure
    #to leave this set to "false"
    FORCE_NONINTERACTIVE_RECONFIGURATION="true"
    START_LIRCMD="true"
    Also used the lircd.conf specifed at http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Le...upport_.282.29.

    Restarted Lirc ie "/etc/init.d/lirc restart". Ran "irw" to verify that lirc was interpreting the remote key presses. Unfortunately irw produced no output regardless of what keys I pressed.

    I noticed that Lirc had written the below warning into syslog:
    Code:
    May 4 20:38:27 pvr lircd-0.8.7[5722]: you are using an obsolete devinput config file: Success
    May 4 20:38:27 pvr lircd-0.8.7[5722]: get the new version at http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/devinput/lircd.conf.devinput: Success
    So I downloaded and used the suggested "lircd.conf.devinput". Restarted Lirc. Ran "irw". Unfortunately irw produced no output regardless of what keys I pressed. And I got the same warning about obsolete devinput config file.

    I noticed that the new lircd.conf file seemed to contain two definitions, with the second one described as "(obsolete 32 bit version)". So I removed the second definition. Restarted Lirc. Ran "irw". Unfortunately irw produced no output regardless of what keys I pressed. However that version of the /etc/lirc/lircd.conf did not produce the warning about obsolete devinput config file.

    Since I could not get irw to output anything, I didn't bother setting up the lircrc file.

    Read http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/LIRC#Ubun...crc_generation. Should have done that earlier.

    Installed ir-keytable.

    When Lirc is not running, ir-keytable produces:
    Code:
    Found /sys/class/rc/rc0/ (/dev/input/event4) with:
    	Driver af9015, table rc-empty
    	Supported protocols: NEC
    	Enabled protocols: NEC
    	Repeat delay = 500 ms, repeat period = 33 ms
    When Lirc is running, ir-keytable produces:
    Code:
    Found /sys/class/rc/rc0/ (/dev/input/event4) with:
    	Driver af9015, table rc-empty
    	Supported protocols: NEC
    	Enabled protocols:
    	Repeat delay = 500 ms, repeat period = 33 ms
    Notice there are no longer any protocols enabled!

    ir-keytable -s rc0 -r produced the following suspicious output (I would have thought there would be more scan codes) :
    Code:
    scancode 0x002a = KEY_COFFEE (0x98)
    Enabled protocols:

    I think I'll try Mythbuntu 10.10

    Mythbuntu 10.10 x86 32bit worked out fine.

    I then installed Mythbuntu-repros to upgrade to Mythtv 24. There seems to be a bug in the support for v24, however I got around it (see http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1749870).

    The remote works fine. irw generated output. Both the new devinput lircd.conf and the older lircd.conf from linuxtv worked well. I stuck with the devinput one. mythbuntu-lirc-generator seems to have interpreted it pretty well and produced a usable lircrc.

    Re: 11.04 - howto setup for dtv 2000 ds + y04g0051 remote ?

    I managed to get further with ubuntu 11.04 by registering a keymap for the NEC protocol using ir-keytable. I was then able to use irw correctly. By default the af9015 has no keymap - rc_empty. So based on a blog I found I mapped to rc-leadtek-y04g0051 and suddenly things started working.

    http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?t=101151

    I put this in /ectc/rc.local

    /etc/init.d/lirc stop
    /usr/bin/ir-keytable -c
    /usr/bin/ir-keytable -p NEC -w /lib/udev/rc_keymaps/rc-leadtek-y04g0051
    /etc/init.d/lirc start

    Irw works now but I am still having issues with xbmc but I am hoping that's just xbmc config or keymap config.
