Firefox: Google.com displays "Wiki not found" page.

OK, I'm about at my wits end with this issue.

Out of the blue this morning, and as far as i can tell due to no changes made by me, Google.com displays the following...

Now, here's where things get weird. In firefox this ONLY happens when trying to visit http://www.google.com, if I change to https://www.google.com it works fine as does all the other google urls around the world (google.ca, google.ru). I have also checked Chrome and Safari and neither are affected.

I've already gone as far as to completely uninstall and reinstall firefox which was no help. clearing cache and cookies also no help. no proxy present in settings either. I can find no reason for this to be occurring and the only changes I've made to firefox was to install an add-on for weather forecast monitoring which I uninstalled due to lack of functionality.

I have had similar problems in the past where my Linksys router was blocking access to my personal websites due to it's improper default handling of DNS entries and connections. That problem was fixed by setting the static DNS IP's in my router so I fail to see how that would be an issue at this point. Anyone got any ideas? This is really starting to p!$$ me off.
