Last time I looked "pot" is illegal. Any one of the other categories is also a violation.

What part of the code of conduct do you not understand ?
Take my pick of what? By your bizarre logic a news story mentioning the arrest of someone for Marijuana possession falls under the 'Illegal Activity' part. As a user that part suggests to me illegal as in something that would actually be illegal to post or link to, let's say how to steal credit card details.
Does this mean that every single post from now on that mentions any kind of crime, or links to a news story that does the same will be removed?

I don't have a problem understanding the code of conduct, only your interpretation of it.

Your post was jailed as it violated the Code of conduct as outlined above. There are several reasons for the violation, adult content and illegal activity (Marijuana).

These forums are for Ubuntu support, please find an alternate online community to discuss such things.

Adult Content, Violence, Illegal Activity: Messages containing violent, sexually oriented, or illegal content or links to sites with this content will either be deleted or saved in the Jail as evidence. Messages with links to or suggesting illegal activity will also be deleted. Posting or linking to any of these could result in a ban.
As a user the points link up to me as indicated by the colours. I would suggest you alter the 'sexually orientated' to 'adult content' to avoid similar misunderstandings in the future.

Anyway, I accept that it was right to remove the thread under the (revised) Adult Content part. I still find the illegal content point utterly ridiculous however. If a thread was made about Canonical being sued for breaching patents, would that be removed as it mentioned illegal content/activity?

Please do not play on words. We are a support resource for Ubuntu, not the coffee hall down the street where you meet with friends. All people from all around the world gather here. There are more appropriate on line sites to share such discussions.

I see you accepted the removal of the thread. I suggest we move on.

How is it a play on words?
Actually nevermind. Nothing is going to get resolved here as you can't or won't fully answer the questions that are asked. I consider that part of the Code of Conduct badly constructed, and application of 'illegal' in regards to my pretty harmless thread frankly stupid. It seems that some staff moderate on personal interpretations rather than what is written down.

I'll try my best not to break the rules in the same way again, but as apparently you don't follow exactly what is written in the CoC, I can't promise.

With that I consider the matter closed. The jailing of your post has now been reviewed and explained to you. I am sorry you disagree with the judgement of the staff, sometimes we need to agree to disagree.
