gb repository slow at present?

Hello All

Just been installing xubuntu 11.04 on my T42.

I'm in the uk, and the sources.list file pops the location of the uk archive in when I install as

http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/

This archive is very slow (30 kb/s)

As a temporary measure, I've edited sources.list so it points to

http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/

which is pulling down at 500 kb/s (the speed of the local internet connection)

Anyone else seeing this behaviour?

[I'm installing lyx, pyxplot and other 'heavies' so I'm downloading half a gig.]

Yup, I've had similar problems since yesterday or the day before.

+1 same here for me... routing thru a proxy makes no difference either. I guess they're having problems.

Edit: LOL - just realised this thread was from 2011.... sigh.
