how to get rid of the annoying side bar?

I really really hate the side bar on the right side of the new ubuntu 11.04.
developers need to let me put it where I want in the next version.
If I can't have it down the bottom, then how may I get rid of it completely?

When you are logging in, you can choose an Ubuntu Classic session with upper and lower panels. You hav to right click the upper panel to add the menus.

I wish my computer would do what I wanted it to do instead of what I told it to do.

suppose I'll have to do that, I did like that search functuon though.
I liked everything else about the new ubuntu.
    Except that *(^^*(&^( side bar.
No other options? to keep everything else just loose the bar?

    Hi!

To the best of my knowledge.

It's the first thing I did!

Install gnome-shell, or any other desktop environment/window manager you like. Then select it at the login screen.

If you want something like the old Gnome 2 was, then I'd recommend either getting Gnome-Shell and using it's fallback mode, or alternatively going for XFCE. Both are fairly similar to old Gnome 2 desktop.

The Actual Solution To The Problem

I found the solution to this problem...

first download "docky" this can be found in the ubuntu software center.

customize "docky" to how you want it, you can put it on the bottom of the screen like windows, mac, or old ubuntu

download "CompizConfig Settings Manager" this is also located in the ubuntu software center

open "CompizConfig Settings Manager" and scroll down to the "desktop" subsection

    click "Ubuntu Unity Plugin"

in the "general" tab there is a button that says left, click it

a window that shows a computer with red shapes and 1 green, click the green shape then click"ok"

a drop down menu is set to never (or dodge, or dodge windows), change it to autohide.

click "back" close "CompizConfig Settings Manager"

if effects are not immediate log out and back in.

    slap a baboon, problem solved

Re: how to get rid of the annoying side bar?

    Thanks SamyAdel9 that really helped!

In the end I used CompizConfig to set the side bar only to come on if I moused over the bottom left corner. It didn't seem so annoying after that.
