I can't stand the fact that Ubuntu 10.04 on my Intel Core 2 duo E6300 @ 1.86GHz (Asus mainboard) with 2GB memory boots in 11 seconds including autologon, while Ubuntu 10.04 on my Intel Core i3 M370 @ 2.40GHz (Lenovo Thinkpad Edge laptop) with 4GB memory boots in 84 seconds, with login taking another 30 seconds.

What is going on here? If anything, I thought my laptop would be faster than the much older desktop.

If you think it makes sense to you, you can check out this boot chart (1MB @ 2131x8524).

BTW - I vividly remember an article or Ubuntu blogpost saying Ubuntu 10.04 should boot in 10 seconds.
