Question Has anyone managed to speed up Evolution startup time?

Evolution drives me crazy - on my 3.2Ghz 6 core machine Evolution takes a good 6 or 7 seconds to launch. Even Gimp loads quicker. Searching the internet for clues is impossible, as I get tons of results for biological evolution... Has onyone experienced the same problem and managed to speed things up? I've tried the obvious things like emptying the Trash, and seen no improvement.

Unfortunately there isn't. How fast does Evolution launch on your system?

Re: Has anyone managed to speed up Evolution startup time?

G'Day, I have the same problem on my experimential PC, Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat sometime takes up to 10 seconds to loadup, yet in Ubuntu 10.04 it's about 1-2 seconds. Maybe a fault/Bug report needs to be raised with Evolution and or Ubuntu.

I don't use it, I use Prism with Gmail, Google docs, Google calendar & Google Reader.

Evolution launches in a few seconds on my 10.04 system and it has to connect to 1 POP, 3 IMAP and 1 Exchange accounts.

On 10.10, it takes around 6 seconds on my machine (fast discs, quad core, lots of RAM). I use Thunderbird now - better LDAP integration).

    Howdy,

I guess that you are using a POP account. Change to IMAP.

For the record, I used IMAP with Evolution.
