Computer still keeps going to sleep!

    Hello.

I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 and am having issues with my pc going to "sleep?". After a few minutes of not moving my mouse or typing (even if a youtube video is playing), the screen will slowly dim until it is completely black, and then I have to type in my password to regain access.

I've gone to my power management options and have set "never" for both options relating to when and how your computer should go to sleep.

Because of this, it makes me suspect that the phenomenon I am experiencing is not "sleep" which would help explain why I can not find related hits when I perform searches for solutions to this specific problem.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks much

Have you checked your screen saver options?

    System>Preferences>Screensaver

Make sure the Activate option is unchecked.

I noticed that, too.Looks like the screensaver of Ubuntu(the blank one by default) is,by default, password protected. Is it possible to remove password protection from it?

you could also install"Caffeine" I did, and set it not let power setting on if Firefox is open.

Ah, That's better. I was just thinking "blank" was the equivalent to "none"... It guess it was hard for me to recognize that behavior as a screen saver dude to the password requirement. Anyhow, Cheers!
