HELP: This is the first time in years of using Ubuntu that I have had to use the Windows partition to do my everyday work.
Within the last week or so, my audio playback -- of mp3 and ogg -- has been skipping, apparently at random. It happens on both Rhythmbox and XMMS. Here are some details:
- Maverick Meercat (64) on a TP410 (with integrated graphics, Compiz running)
- CPUs (this is an i7 machine) are not spiking, not even close
- 3 gigs of memory are unused
- it doesn't seem to matter what else is running (and I can't seem to force playback to skip, no matter what sorts of wacky graphics stuff I do)
- it doesn't matter whether tracks are VBR or not
- Rhythmbox had been running without incident from the date of initial install (in December) until a few days ago.
- UPDATE: The problem has to do with the battery, not the kernel version.
Any thoughts? Anybody else having the same issues?
