Backing up to a mounted NAS

    Absolute beginner here. First backup.

    I have mounted a NAS to /mnt/temp_nas

Now I am doing a backup of the entire file system starting at / (duh!). Is the backup smart enough to know that the mounted NAS is holding the backup and should not be backed up, or is the backup going to backup the ever-growing backup on the mounted NAS until it runs out of space?

If the above backup is going to create a loop and just go until my NAS runs out of space, how do I mount the NAS so that I can backup the entire file system?

    Thanks in advance.
