    Global menu annoyance

Global menus are nice when they work but that doesn't always happen. I just decided to change preferences in terminal to get rid of the puke purple background and increase the font to something a little more readable. The only menu choice available is File and under that the only choice is close. Not useful.

Instead of saying "not useful", why not elaborate on the problem and report a bug?

So far for me, it's all smooth.

It shouldn't be like that, but I have seen it happen. Has Compiz crashed at any point?

Does it work correctly if you restart? And have you updated?

What more needs to be said? I thought I explained the situation pretty well. I haven't figured out how to report an ad-hoc bug yet. I have sent in bug reports whenever a crash triggered an automated submission. I have 5 in the queue right now.

Compiz has crashed many times. It hasn't happened since my last boot though. I am constantly checking for updates using all methods. I'll reboot now and see if anything changes.

Usually global menus break when you have a compiz crash, running:

    Code:
    unity --reset
    cures the problem.

A restart did fix the issue. I guess I'll have to start making pre-emptive restarts.

I just had a compiz crash, everything started back up as it should without some of the weirdness earlier compiz crashes suffered.

Thanks for the tip. I hadn't bothered to read the man page for unity.
