Playback of Flash videos appeared washed-out or dark red

    Hi,
When I played back a Flash video the picture sometimes appeared washed-out and, other times, completely red (people showed up as black objects). With washed-out picture, I could modify the video settings (using VLC), closed out the player, re-played the video, and the problem went away. With red picture, there was nothing I could do to fix except clearing the web browsing history and restarted the player. This problem happened with all the video players on my computer, not just with VLC. It appeared that all video players used some video settings temporary files.

Has this problem happened to anyone here?

Is there a way to permanently save the video settings in VLC?

    Thanks for your help.

You can try to change the video output to OpenGL, which on 12.04 solved my problem with normal VLC and other features.

If you unable to save your VLC settings, check the permissions on ~/.config and the files in ~/.config/vlc
