Audigy 2 ZS Sound Card Instead of AC97 Onboard?

I've got 64 bit 10.10 installed on an old Dell OptiPlex GX620. All seems to be running well so far. I've also just inherited a Creative Audigy 2 ZS sound card and I'm wondering if it's worth installing it. I believe the Onboard audio is AC97. Can anyone offer advice and perhaps some enlightenment on the benefits of either option? Also, is anyone aware of any Audigy 2 ZS install gotchas? thanks.

Audio quality will be significantly better, and I hope you'll search the forums for other Audigy2 experiences if no one responds.
