    Looking for a Photo Editor

    Hi All,

Adding a few programs on to my laptop, one thing I need to tick off my list is a image editing program. I mainly want to be able to change light balances, touch ups, crop, formats and effects.

I have been searching for a program and have stubbled across a few. I am interested in your personal experience with a free photo editing program on Ubuntu/Linux. I would prefer to use Sudo or Ubuntu Software Center.

    Kind Regards

I think GIMP is already installed, if not just sudo apt-get it... it's a good alternative to Adobe PhotoShop ©®TM that has everything a photographer needs...

    Why do you hate Gimp?
It's the most powerful image editor I know of available for Ubuntu. However, Shotwell can do almost everything you described, as well as F-Spot.

Thanks 23Dornet and Neon Lights, those programs look fantastic. I think I might go with Shotwell, its interface looks superb.

    Gimp isn't really for photo?

Do not agree with that statement at all. That's like saying PS isn't for photos, or Inkscape isn't for drawing.

Gimp IS a photo editor and powerful one at that.

I'm not saying you have to like using it, but please, before making statements like that, take a look at the Gimp Registry and note all the photography related plug-ins and scripts...
