Question a desent media center application NOT distro.

i have looked throughout the software repositories searched sourceforge, scoured forums but to no avail. i am looking for a linux media-center application NOT a distro that has most of the abilities of windows media center. it needs to be easily searchable have, support movies, music, dvd, pictures, and preferably have music and video streaming capabilities, (hulu, last fm, Ubuntu one, jamendo, magnatune, oh and it need to support tags and metadata. it would also be nice if i could use it to stream music to other devices. more or less a total M$ media center replacement. and please not command-line based. does such a beast exist?

ps vlc based would be awesome

    I'm looking for the same.

XBMC gives me endless trouble by installing some nvidia drivers that screw everything up to the degree that I just have to reinstall the OS (Linux Mint 10). Nvidia and XBMC don't play well.

Boxee looks great but can't play flash video (only sound) and from the looks of it, it's not going to be fixed either.

XBMC with a functional interface to a MythTV backend is arguably the best solution there is in the foss world. It is probably the best solution period.
With a decent Nvidia graphics card (GT220/430 or better) you will not get better PQ.

As a media centre, VLC does not come close..
