KDE 4.6 and Intel 945GM?

Is the new KDE 4.6 compatible with the Intel 945GM onboard graphics? KDE 4.5 was never friendly with my chipset and resulted in frequent lockups and freezes.....and I was unable to even switch on the desktop effects.

Kwin is turned off every few minutes by KDE; citing "acceleration was too slow".

Its easy to turn back on alt+shift+F12, but its annoying to the point I don't bother to use KDE on that computer(MSI Wind u100).

I would not recommend it. For a system with an integrated card, I'd suggest tweaking xfce or openbox to your likings.

Up until KDE 4.4, I'd used openSUSE 11.3 as well as Arch with KDE 4.4 without any problems. So, what's changed that has led to the currently sad state of affairs?

You don't need to apologize for the KDE foundation. If you feel bad about it, file a few error reports and poke the dev's at KDE in the ribs with a stick.

I'm using LXDE on my msi wind u100, and could not be happier.

nvidia constantly fixes bugs in accordance to kde improvements

not much to say about intel on that matter.

I've run Kubuntu on and off on my netbook (945GM) since 9.10.

KDE 4.3 ran ok.

KDE 4.4 was very sluggish but never locked up.

KDE 4.5 ran fine.

KDE 4.6 is quicker than GNOME.
Ironically the full KDE desktop runs smoother than the netbook interface.

So, it runs fine? Which distro are you using?
