Thank you for the fast response. I am still trying to figure out my way around the site and how it works. I looked in the Administration but I don't have a Software Sources in the list.
The message stopped appearing, so I must have done something to fix it. Thanks again.

Go to System>Administration>Update Manager and click Settings and then select the Other software tab. You will need to click Add to add another software source to the list.

Linux and Ubuntu are very secure operating systems. You can set Ubuntu to have automatic log in but you are the only person allowed to change the system settings. This is why you are asked at certain times to authenticate the action. Your log in password will work.

Another way to get to Software Sources is to open the Ubuntu software Centre and click edit and you will see Software sources on the bottom of the list.

    Regards.
It is a machine. It is more stupid than we are. It will not stop us from doing stupid things.

That's a general piece of advice I have in my signature - not my reply. My reply was that there should be a text box inside the "Authenticate" window, that you should type your password into in order to authenticate.
