    Integrate Thunderbird into panel

Is there a way of setting up my thunderbird client into the email icon defaulted to evolution shown on the panel in the top right?

If not is there a way of getting rid of it without removing my volume or battery icons?

    Thanks in advance
    Jez

i guess this is what you ask for...
you can add thunderbird to the panel this way.. say it is installed and you find it in applications->internet... right click on its icon there and add to panel...
for removing you do reverse..right click on the applet on the panel and remove

Thats not quite what I was looking for.

With evolution you can get the drop down information with the email notification area.

Is there a similar thing for thunderbird

I can't vouch for how well this works, but it's supposed to do what you want: http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2010/09/t...cation-applet/

    Jez:

Firetray will actually put Tbird into the Notification Area AND tell you how many new emails there are when there are new ones.
It's kinda cool. 1 less window to fart with and still have a visual on the unread mail count.

Windows assumes the user is an idiot.
    Linux demands proof.
