Is it Possible to sync a windows mobile phone to Evolution in 10.10?

    Hi All,

Does anyone know if it possible to sync a mobile phone using Windows 6x mobile, to Evolution in 10.10, using MultiSync, and SynCE?

The "Notes" say that this version of Evolution, only supports the Palm OS, and sync's with it. However, I found a blog, which says that using MultiSync, and SynCE, (the blog gave no version, other than 'Linux'), you can, so, it is possible?

Is there anyone here, who has tried it, and was it successful? (just trying to save myself a lot of wasted hours here!)

I'd be interested to find out, the XDA that I have holds, quite literally, the 'back up' of my address book, and without sync, it has to be manually reloaded.

Last Question does anyone know if there are plans to include a wider range of 'sync-ing' in the new issue of 11.04?

Short and sweet, but hours of 'skull-sweat' required to find an answer.

    Regards
    Terry M

Okay! Having no responses, I went down the "Try it and see" road!

No Joy! got as far as recognizing that a phone was present, but actually sync-ing with it, No-Way!

I found a later blog, on yet another site, that it will work, but only as far as 10.04 (Lucid Lynx?)

So unless anyone has anything to offer, I'm going to mark this one as Unsuccessful, and closed the thread.

First off, I know nothing about any of this, but I did some searching on the net and will post a few of the links. Forgive me if you've already seen them or if they don't apply.

This seems to be for Gutsy, but perhaps some of it, like settings, etc., might apply:

Using UbuntuOne (not sure if this part is free):

Just some I found - don't know if they'll do you any good, but perhaps a close read of each will give you ideas of what to check or what to try.

Thanks for those, three of them, yes I have already tried, the others need further investigation.

I'm still preoccupied with the statement in the notes that this version in Maverick/Evolution, only sync's with the Palm O/S, and it may be a dead end task.

but I'll keep trying, and post any results that are good.

    Thanks again
    Terry.

I gave up syncing my phone directly with my PC, going the 'web' route. I switched to using Google mail/contacts/Calendar, and then configured both my phone and mail clients to synch with those.

The end result was perfect for me; perhaps not you, but worth some consideration.

Re: Is it Possible to sync a windows mobile phone to Evolution in 10.10?

I'm presently investigating the Ubuntu 1 route since they support the O2 Orbit II XDA that I have, but only for contacts, which again is OK, since all I want to do is sync my contacts anyway!

But could I find the relevant tutorial, not yet because they are 'down for Maintainance' today so I can go no further at present.

A similar process to the "Gmail" route, I think, and I will look at that as well.

    Regards all

Okay! it appears to be possible to do it via Ubuntu 1, but only with Contacts, on my particular phone, (which is all I really want anyway!)

But you can't do it with a 'free account', you have to upgrade then it becomes not really worth the price.

Now I'm exploring the "GMail" route!

    Hi Again All,
No further along with the syncing, all routes are proving to be unworkable!

So we'll just have to wait and see if 11.04 answers the problem.

So I'm closing this thread. BUT as UNSOLVED!
