Canon MX340 scanning

I recently moved to Maverick Meerkat on a inspiron e1505 and everything is moving along smoothly - except... I have installed the drivers for a Canon MX340 and it is humming along nicely for printing but I'm not getting any scanning from it. Am I missing a utility, or doing something wrong? (well, duh - it's not working so I must be doing something wrong, right?) Any advice on this issue would be much appreciated.
