In ubuntu 11.04. They give us Libre Office. I think you should use that, if wine is not allowing installing of Office plus 2010. I tried installing a game on Playingonlinux. and it froze my computer when it was installing it.. :/

Re: Cannot install Office 2010 on wine

    Hi,

I tried to install and run MSO2010 under Ubuntu a few weeks back. PlayOnLinux has a profile for installation of Office 2010, which will however only support Word, Excel and Powerpoint. When I tried it, Office 2010 would install but not run properly (application freeze). You can try that and play around with the wine versions - your milage may vary.

I myself run Office 2007 under Codeweaver's Crossover Office since two or 3 years. Main reason was that I needed Outlook to work, which usually doesn't run with a vanilla wine installation. Work, Excel and Powerpoint in the mean time should work fine. Also for Office2007 there is a PlayOnLinux Profile which works fine for the 3 mentioned apps.

Given, that Codeweaver does not support Office 2010 yet, you may have to be patient for some time.

    Cheers,

    Riko
