I dumped Ubuntu and installed Plasma Active http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu-active/daily-live/
Other than the few bugs I ran into and not being able to log in with the OSK I think it's what I'm going to go with once it's stable.

There sure is! If you look back one page (page 11) you'll see a couple of posts on Android.

Dear all, someone wants to help me reporting hardware related bugs and Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) to launchpad.

Please check out the following thread:

    Best regards

I have put it in /etc/rc.local before the starting of the eGTouchd

I have Ubuntu 12.04.1. According to lsmod, the module hid_multitouch is loaded. However, the command
    echo "3 oeef aoo1 1" > new_id
gives as response the following line:
-su: echo: write error: Invalid argument

My first guess was the the running eGTouchd could have been the problem. Therefore, I commented the line/ usr/bin/eGTouchD in /etc/rc.local. Then I rebooted, however I received the same error message for echo "3 oeef aoo1 1" > new_id

    Do you have any ideas?
