buying advise

Hi,
I am getting a new HP pavilion laptop. It will either have, Intel® HD Graphics, up to 1696 MB total available graphics memory or, ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5470. Both machines would be using a Core i5 processor.

All I want graphics wise is to able to have desktop effects that run smoothly ( eg wobbly windows, shadows, transparency, etc ). Which type of grahics would go best with U/Kubuntu?

There is a new component catalog developed by canonical that list compatible hardware. I don't know the difference between the graphics components mentioned, but I always opt for intel over anything, because I've never had a problem with intel chipsets
