    Software Upnp player?

    Hi

I have setup Mediatomb and it works great with Windows media player. However I also would like to be able to browse and watch my files on Linux as well(sorry no ps3, xbox etc here). I also do not want to install a massive media center type app. I am just looking for a player like Vlc(which does not play upnp at the moment)

    thanks

    Hi,

I've only just got in to this stuff myself... just installed Mediatomb, which is awesome.

There seems to be a few players/plugins around for uPNP. VLC has one, though I didn't get much joy.

Totem has one which works great in the "plugins-extras" package (search in synaptic for DLNA or uPNP, you'll find it)

I'm struggling a bit with a massive music collection, which takes a bit of processing on the client side. If anyone can point me out a player with decent search capability, or give me any tips on any kind of server side searching in Mediatomb (I've installed to MySQL, so should be pretty fast searching), that'd be fantastic.

    Thanks,
    -Oli
