Ok... great that this also works for Maverick.
The problem is most likely this with OSS and Ubuntu baked kernels.

Going to test the firefox fix, thanks !
EDIT
Works....
Next step is maybe compiling PA from GIT.....

What happened to the script download?
Thanks for this updated script. Had to install "manually" dependencies as I hadn't right GPG keys for some ppa's (dont know which)...
This helped me fix an issue I had with my ALC889A (Intel HDA) card in Maverick.
Thank you!
I am running Maverick 64 bit on a Macbook Pro 13 inches version 7,1
Importantly, I ran AlsaUpgrade-1.0.24-2.sh successfully.Code:sudo dmidecode -s system-product-name MacBookPro7,1
My purpose here was to see if the new version of Alsa 1.0.24 would include a fix for enabling the microphone integrated in the iPhone headset. The hardware supports it, as it works fine on Mac OS X, but it would be great if it would also work with my favorite distribution.
I have the following in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf:
Any how, I did get a benefit with the upgrade: the sensitivity of the case integrated microphone got much better. Perhaps I can use it as a workaround, but it also catches all the ambient noise, and it might not be optimal for Skype calls :-)Code:options snd-hda-intel model=mbp55
Also, I noticed that suspend to RAM would hang the system after the upgrade.
Seemed to have solved the problem. Perhaps there was a left over Alsa kernel module on the old initrd ...Code:sudo update-initramfs -u
