Windows 7 IR-Remote

Hello,

I bought a Medion Akoya E6214 and installed Ubuntu 10.10 on it and instantly fell in love with it.

But when I bought this laptop (about 6 months ago) I got a free infra-red remote (also Medion). Althou I must admitt it is for Windows 7.

Yet I tried to use the remote and Ubuntu 10.10 does recognize certain buttons like "Shut Down" and "Volume UP and DOWN". Yet all the other buttons don't work like the Pause and Play button.

Is there any software/way to make it work or is it just doomed to stay like this ?

(When it's not possible or not easily done then just ignore this question, I would only use it if it had some easy way of making it work. Not going to build a kernel for it )
