No sound in my pc

Hi to everyone...I am a new user of Ubuntu 10.10 and own a pc. My problem is since my pc has 2 ports to insert my speaker, there is no sound when I insert the speaker on my front port. Amazingly, the port on the back side works well. It is only on Ubuntu (I use Windows sometimes but the problem is not there). Hope someone could help me...

Try Left click on your speaker Icon on the panel and select Sound Preferences from the drop down menu.
Click on the "Output" tab and notice the option Connector, mine has the option for Analog Output or Analog Headphones.
This is my guess.

sorry but that didn' work as there is no 'connector' option under 'output' category. It is only in 'input' category and that only has 'microphone' and 'line-in' as the two options.
