Asus Eee PC 1015PN - graphic cards: Optimus and ION

I'm having the same problem as berardi where I get 404 errors when trying to download the files. I ran into 404 errors when trying to use the acpi call repository listed http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php...&postcount=156. Any idea what's going on?

Sorry about that. Since i moved to oneiric some time ago i forgot to fix the natty dkms problem. But i did so now and uploaded a working acpi call kernel module for natty and edited the download instructions in the post you linked, so it should be ok now.

But honestly, update to ubuntu oneiric

i appologize for not posting this question somewhere else but on this page http://sites.google.com/site/mtrons/howtos/eeepc-1015pn dude says he uses amd64 to utilize the atom cores... super confused sence im not using it and seems to work fine. should i switch? whats the difference? how is it supposed to be better? please let me know cuz ive been googling this... thanks

I'm the "dude" so no probelm

The Processor in the 1015PN is a intel Atom N550. It's a dualcore Procressor with 4 threads.

So if you use the 64 bit Version of ubuntu your computer will preform significatly smoother when working with integer values (this is relevant if you use encryption or do video en/decoding)

But if you feel safer with i386 (=32bit) go for it

hi to all,
i have installed ubuntu 11.10 and the vga selector from mtron repository, but i have a brightness problem, it's not possibile set the screen with the max brightness... how i can fix it?

was it a update from natty or a fresh install? on what vga chip do you have the brightness problem ? (intel or nvidia)

did you add any parameters to grub?

i do a fresh install and i have added the parameters to grub, the problem is with the intel chip

ok, remove both parameters from the grub default line (so that only 'quiet splash' remains) and run 'sudo update-grub' & reboot

If this fixes the brightness problem try to find out if the acpi_osi=Linux or the pcie_aspm=force parameter causes this, Thanks!

the 2 parameters don't create problems, i think it's because i put some paramenters between quiet splash.
