I'm trying to install Ubutu 10.10 onnto a laptop that I have, a Compaq Presario 700, and when I either boot from the live disk or try a strait install I keep getting this error:

[ 216.051920] vt596 - SMBus 0000:00:0 7.4: SMNUS: Error: Host SMBus controller not enabled! - Upgrade BIOS or use force=1

And then after that nothing really seems to run corrently. I really have no clue what that is ir what to do about it. So I would really appreciate the help. Thanks!
