Hi,
I've just been given a laptop that hasnt been used in ages to take to university.
It has no operating system installed so i downloaded ubuntu. In the live cd trial mode everything works fine, i can mount and add folders and files to the hard drive, i can even create partitions etc. When i try to install ubuntu it says that the installation failed and there may be a problem with the hard drive.
When i tried with a windows disk it goto the point that it normally asks to create partitions but it justs says a hard drive is not installed.
The HDD shows up in the bios correctly.
Any ideas whats wrong?
Thanks,
Fred.
