    Different paths to the net

So it seems that all of the traffic is being split through two different paths, to brows the web I have to have my phone connected. While though I have normal connectivity to the web with transmission. On top of that, when I google "what is my ip address" I get the modems IP addr.

In order to do whatever it is you are trying to do or solve your problem in a way that doesn't require constantly asking for help you must learn the basics of networking (and this would apply no matter what operating system or platform you are using)
Here is a free online tutorial and reference that requires no previous networking experience: http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/gg243376.html

The current situation you described infers that when you connect to the internet through your router/modem that HTTP (Browser) traffic is being blocked/intercepted by a proxy or firewall setting between you and your router/modem or by the ISP.
