    Lightbulb Python begginer project proposals

    Hello guys,

I just finished my first bash script for moving around mp3s based on their ID3 tags. So I'm fairly new to this kind of stuff!

Now I need a small program for Stop Motion. I need it to be light, To preview the camera frame, and some number of previous shot frames, via "onion skining" and surprise surprise, to control my camera.

The thing is that I'm thinking of writing it in Python2.6 because I believe that it will be much more efficient and fun.

    My question is:

    a) Is this project small enough for me to tackle (considering I'm a freelance and currently theres no job to be found)

    b) Would you propose an alternative language and why?

    c) What about a nice link for learning a bit of Python!

    I thank you in advance,
    g

    Did I do something wrong?

Did I post in the wrong section? Why none answers?

yes, the project is small enough. for help, try the python website and try finding books on torrent sites

PS: do not expect answers to come fast on a forum. usually they come in a few hours.

    Thank you mihaitudorpopescu,

    I'll try that.

PS: I was more concerned for the correct placement of my thread than anticipating actual answers... It was two days since the first post!

Aside from the tutorial on Python's website, you might try Dive Into Python, which is also packaged in the ubuntu repositories:

    Code:
    sudo apt-get install diveintopython
For practice, there's the Python Challenge.

    Hope those are helpful.

^A nice place to start learning python.

Pygame should be fine from creating stop motion animations, it's easy to take screenshot of your program with: "pygame.image.save(displaysetmodevariablename,"nam eofimage.png")

    Re: Python begginer project proposals

Thank you guys, I was ready to give up on this thread!

I'm looking into your proposals right now and I hope I'm gonna be able to clarify things in my mind because right now i feel like I'm lost in deep sea!

I'm thinking o using "gphoto2" to control my camera... if I ever find out how to actually import modules!!

and I'm looking for a good speech recognition (speech to text) module to help me with lipsing.

    Thank you all very much,
    George.
