Using Jaunty's video drivers under Maverick

    Hello Everybody!

I'd been using Ubuntu along the last years. Everytime a new Ubuntu version comes up I see great improvements, but there are as well regressions, in general small ones, but there's one that I want to solve since long, and I want to know if you can help me, guys...

I have an old ATI Radeon 9250 (RV280), which had a wonderful performance under Jaunty, touching the Xorg.conf I could get about 2000 FPS on glxgears. I would use Jaunty, but I need to use some of the latest versions of the apps. Karmic and Lucid didn't perform very well on my computer, but Maverick does! Even the video runs smoother, but it's still far from what I had with Jaunty.

I'm wondering, is it possible to downgrade Xorg, mesa, and all their friends to Jaunty's versions, without compromising the rest of the system? (I tried some things but I always messed everything, resulting on restarts from scratch.

I know I should buy a new computer, but if you guys can lend me a hand, I'll be more than glad.

    Greetings from Argentina!
