Panel Menu Items: Font Too Dark

This seems like a very obvious problem with Ubuntu 10.10 but I've searched the forum and google and I can't find the fix.

In 10.10, in the Panel menu items text, the Font of inactive items is Too Dark to be visible at all.

For example, on the Dropbox item in the panel, the informational items (normally greyed out), are so dark in font color (black) on a very dark background (dark brown) that the can only barely be seen.

    How can I fix this?

I think you can use gnome-color-chooser its in the repositories.

I tried that and it didn't work. Unless I did something wrong. It didn't seem to change anything in 10.10

    Well, reviving an old thread...

But gnome-color-chooser works on the Maverick-beta theme,
i tried it only as a user installed theme,
so if you turn 'Global Colors / Disabled field' on and set it to a middle grey things like Dropbox menu on indicator can be perfectly viewd even on a darker laptop screen.
It transforms the menus too, so in nautilus you'll be able to view the disabled options.
Though on tray internet settings smaller text is still too dark,
but the text is clearly alright.

    Bye!

Try changing the theme . I have found some themes I really like and won't use them because of this problem . Black text on a dark brown panel doesn't work very well when your applet text is white. You could also look into editing the GTK rc file to resolve this.
