Dell no longer shipping PC w/ Ubuntu

Just thought Ubuntu Users would like to know:

Just got off the phone with Dell about a link I have found:

    http://webapps.ubuntu.com/certificat...e/201006-6080/

Turns out they are no longer shipping any PCs with Ubuntu only crappy winblows 7. grrr'

Thought it was upon asking that they would install Ubuntu on there systems, not any more.

This rumor has been persistent since Dell started shipping Ubuntu systems in 2007.

The phone droids are idiots. Ubuntu systems are still available on the Dell website, albeit as difficult to locate as ever.

Dell sucks, dell phone droids dont know anything.

You can get systems from dell without windows7.....you can even get systems witha linux distro installed.

Dell PowerEgde R900 comes with Red Hat or SUSE (and citrix).

There may be others, but dells search function is as bad as ever, so there might be others..there might even be a ubutnu option hidign somethwere in the business section.

BTW, thats where to find the linux systems, in 'small and medium business'. I'm 99.5% convinced that dell putting ubuntu onto any systems at all was for leverage over the windows 7 price (the other 0.5% is they might have done it 'just in case' linux in general took off).

I will be sure to ask our Dell Rep. next time I have him on the phone also to verify what's going on with this, and report back.

I am on the phone with them at least a couple times a month.
