I have been trying to render a series of jpeg images to a video slideshow/animation and not yet managed to get a result. Stopmotion simply fails at the export process and the script at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1659325 didn't work for me either. I don't quite see how Gimp's Animation filters (Gimp-gap?) could do it. I tried downloading the swftools package from the old repo and following instructions at http://timwise.blogspot.com/2008/03/...-on-linux.html and found that the animate command is pretty nifty but that the resulting swf from png2swf wouldn't play in movie player or vlc. I didn't get far with instructions for using ffmpeg or mencoder and it looks like Stopmotion uses those anyway.
I've now seen my animation previewed in two different applications but I would like to know if anyone has a suggestion. It's disappointing that such a basic function won't work with a gui for me.
