anyone able to instal Arcgis 9.2/9.3.1/or other version ???

hello

I have just started using Ubuntu , and i really like it, if only not to support MS.
But now i have this problem, trying to install arcgis (ESRI), I yust can't get it to work.
i've tried installing it trough wine and also virtualbox would't do it.

I've checked out the free Qgis but its so different and i have to make the arcgis exams in arcgis, so an other
prog is just not possible.

I hope anybody can help me,
i'm running ubuntu-10.10-desktop-amd64.

hi

changed my ubuntu desktop to ubuntu-10.10-desktop-i386, cause i thought that the differnce in 32 and 64 bit system might cause the problem, but still it is not solved.

anybody ?

Dual Boot, Virtual Machine are your two options.

..no hardware acceleration/OpenGL in virtual machines I suppose.

But AFAIK, this shouldn't be a problem for installing it, but only will make ArcGiS to run slower..

In any case, VirtualBox current has support for hardware acceleration in Windows and Linux guests, by providing direct access to the host’s video device, as you can read here:
