No Desktop effects with dual screen setup... is there a solution?

    Hello all,

I have hooked up my trusted laptop (core solo with Intel 950 GMA graphic card) to my TV through the VGA port. The TV is recognized and the native resolution works fine on both monitors (lappy and TV).

My problem is that desktop effects get deactivated whenever I hook up the VGA cord. Is there a way to make this work with Compiz enabled?

    Thanks for your help.

Imma go off on a limb here and assume the GMA can handle Compiz on 2 displays at once and that Compiz isn't disabling itself because of the GMA chip.

    Stupid questions:
Have you tried re-establishing Compiz after you connected your second monitor? Does Aero disable itself in Win7 whenever you connect another monitor in windows? Is everything up to date?

I set up Compiz on my T510 and its got an NVS 3100m which is not that great in terms of OpenGL support to begin with but whenever I hook up my other display @ 1080p, I can notice considerable performance issues when using some of the Compiz functions.
