Changed an NVIDIA GPU to an ATI one, blank screen when booting

    Hey, guys.

I recently upgraded my GPU, from an NVIDIA 8400 GS to an ATI 5770HD, but didn't change any settings or drivers in Ubuntu before doing so.

I can use a command line environment, and have removed nvidia-latest (I hope I recall the name correctly) using apt-get, but it had no use, I still get a blank screen after an underscore character blinking for a few seconds.

What command could I use, or what config file can I edit to make it work?

From my experience, changing graphic cards like that can be very messy, i've had the ATI drivers not working for me at all, even when i did manage to install them, and i ended up reinstalling ubuntu, however that was about 4 ubuntu versions ago.
My best advice is to follow this
