    Canon mp470 printer ubuntu 10.10

My wife has a canon MP470 printer and running ubuntu 10.10. I am able to print black and white, but unable to print photos. I got it to work using another driver, but not the 'correct' one for this printer. I have searched a bit and don't see anything about ubuntu 10.10, just older versions.

    Any advice....

Or should I just network her to my printer....?

I had the same problem. I manually loaded the driver just under the MP470. I think it was MP390. It prints fine and scans well also using the scanner under 'graphics'.

I think I did this, to get it to 'work'. Not sure which driver I used though. It does sorta work for simple documents. Now, I need it to print images and it prints a type of two tone, purple black and white thing.

I guess I will just experiment in using different drivers.

    Thanks,

With that MP390 driver the color works perfectly. As far as I can tell, it IS the correct driver. I haven't found anything wrong with it. It should be perfect for you too.

Well, the few test images and oospreadsheets print perfectly. I guess this is the correct driver to use. I followed these directions on changing the driver to this driver. http://www.freesoftwaremagazine.com/...rinting_ubuntu Basically adding a new printer.

    Thanks

FANTASTIC ! Thank you so much! This works with the 3xx series driver as you've suggested. You saved me from having to buy a new printer!

    Thanks again.
