Question [HELP] 7Zip set as default [Ubuntu 10.10 32bit]

I would like to set 7Zip as default in Ubuntu 10.10 32bit. I went into the Ubuntu Software Center & installed 7Zip but when I go to right click on a archive file 7Zip does not show up.

    How can I fix this?

    I forgot what I did in 10.04 it's been a while

    Thanks for the help <3

I am also looking for this solution. It would be extremely useful since archive manager never recognizes rars

What are you talking about. I have 7zip and rar installed. When I right click a folder and select "compress", 7z and rar are both there. The default type is the last one you used.

I would like to be able to right click on any type of a file & be able to add it to a 7zip archive or what ever the .7z is called you know like a .rar or .zip. Also I want 7zip to be the default program that opens all compressed files.

7zip doesn't have a GUI front-end for Linux. 7zip is only designed as a CLI application for Linux. Luckily Nautilus and Archive Manager have support for it. So if you are trying to say that you want the actual 7zip application to do all your archiving/extracting for you, it can't be done. What's your issue with Ubuntu's archive manager? It can archive/extract all file types as long as you have the libraries installed.

I also want to do this as p7zip will extract many files that the archive manager says are corrupted p7zip claims they are too but then extracts them successfully anyway I try properties and select application but p7zip isn't a choice.
