    Server training/reading suggestions please

    Evening all.

I've just installed 10.04 server for a small charity it's up and the webserver is running.

But I'm woefully ignorant and short of skills I need to get competent ASAP.

    What books/training can you recommend?

    Many Thanks mndick

That's a vague question. What sort of tasks do you hope to accomplish? Will you just be running a webserver, or LDAP, email, file shares, print server, etc.?

I assume you are looking for basic server administration in which you can find a load of books to buy on barnes and nobles: http://productsearch.barnesandnoble....g=False&ugrp=1

I personally like this one overall:
    http://www.amazon.com/Official-Ubunt...2359441&sr=8-1
Ubuntu Christian Edition chat on irc at server: OFTC/channel: #ubuntuCE
    BootInfoScript DualBooting

to tighten things up a bit we will be running a web server and a file server off a old Dell Blade rack mountable box. It's massively over the top but it doubles as a room heater

If the site ever gets more that a few hits a hour I'll be surprised and we are never likely to have more than 12 pc's (MS XP) on the local net.

It's general admin and maintenance, user accounts, configuration, security, web, email _ print ......

Many Thanks for your replies. Mnduck

Here is a HOWTO which I found comprehensive and invaluable.
Are you using the most current version of this how-to?
Version numbers are located @ top right of this page. Latest versions are available at my homepage http://woodel.com
    Under the Solutions tab
