I have a Dell laptop with an Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2350M CPU @ 2.30GHz processor.
It came pre-installed with Windows 7. It was so slow, I thought there was something physically wrong with the computer. I ran passmark CPU benchmark test and the benchmark rating was 3 times less(~790) than what it was supposed to be for this processor(~2600). It was evident that something was wrong. I couldn't open 6 tabs on Mozilla without even text editing becoming very slow.
After installing Ubuntu, I can open 30 tabs and there is no lag whatsoever. Is there any reason why this could have happened.
And was the slow speed simply because of the OS. I thought benchmarking software did not depend on the OS.
