Lastpass questions

Hey guys, I am seriously considering using Lastpass. Am I entrusting my passwords to them, or is it truly only passing them a copy of ENCRYPTED data? Is there any evidence to date to show that Lastpass themselves will hack into our websites? (ie. it is a scam)

From their website:"All encryption/decryption occurs on your computer, not on our servers. This means that your sensitive data does not travel over the Internet and it never touches our servers, only the encrypted data does."
