Ubuntu 10.10 shuts down but won't restart

Dear all,
I recently upgraded from Ubuntu 10.04 to Ubuntu 10.10.
I'm experiencing an issue with the new release:
when I "Shut Down" the computer by clicking on the Shut Down button,
the computer turns off correctly.

When instead I try to Restart, the computer freezes (the dots in the splash screen stop and I have to turn off the computer manually, by keeping the power button pressed).

Strangely if before the computer freezes I press ALT+F1 to check which module is causing the freeze, the computer restarts correctly.

Any idea what might be causing this issue?

Issue was solved for me with last updates.
