Import .icm in lprof

I've got a new monitor which has a .icm profile on the CD.

I would like to calibrate my monitor and found lprof. It's got a nice GUI but to someone new to the whole monitor calibration ballgame it's not that easy to work out.

Is there a way I can simply import the .icm profile? Is that enough, or do I need to do more set-up after that?

Do the changes in lprof affect EVERYTHING that appears on my screen ? (I mean, once it's set-up, I don't have to apply anything to various applications like gimp/digicam?)

I got an answer from the lprof mailing list.
1. Make sure gnome-color-manager is installed.
2. Double click on the ICM file.

If I understand it correctly, this does not affect all applications, it must be loaded on a per-application basis.

I will soon be buying a hardware coloromiter.

I'm not using lprof, but on a related note: I have the Spyder3Express.icm from Windows. With gnome-color-manager installed, I simply click the file and then select the monitor. It is not per-application.

Yep, that's my current set-up too now! Works nicely!
