Included here are many new sounds for system ready (if you have a username and password protected Ubuntu OS log-in) and desktop log-in, most often in an alphabetic order (targeting the artists' names, not the title of the songs - the exception is the list under "New Material", where the latest additions are listed on top regardless of their names). The material here is very varied in flavor and possibly targets many different tastes. If you like what I have made in terms of source of inspiration, then much of this can provide you with a lot of raw material that you can develop and tailor to your meet own preferences (for example shorten the spans). I have used "Audacity" for most parts, working on this.

All compressed files here (that is every single download) contain at least one "system-ready.ogg" and one "desktop-login.ogg". If there are any deviations this is noted, and always this means that there are several other versions of either "system-ready.ogg" and/or "desktop-login.ogg".

IF ANYONE HAS A SPECIAL WISH IN TERMS OF LOG-IN SOUNDS FOR SYSTEM READY OR DESKTOP PLEASE REPLY HERE.
I WILL MAKE SOME SUGGESTIONS AND PLACE THEM ON TOP OF THIS "REPLY" (UNDER "NEW MATERIAL").

    CLUELESS?

If you don't know how to change your startup sounds please read below:

    1. Open the downloaded files with (for example) Archive Manager, or download/save the file and then use an archive manager to open it (unless you prefer the Terminal).

    2. Extract the files to a location you prefer (for example in the Downloads directory).

    3. Get substitute-user-do, for example through this command in the Terminal: gksudo nautilus and then type in your password. You will become root user, and should maneuver yourself to: /usr/share/sounds/ubuntu/stereo/

    4. In there you should (for backup-safety) rename the following files: desktop-login.ogg (should/could be the default intro melody when you enter your operative system, unless you have already altered it) and system-ready.ogg (should/could be the default short drum-session if you have a login screen, unless you have already altered it) to something like: _bak_desktop-login.ogg and _bak_system-ready.ogg

    5. Open up the directory where you extracted _bak_desktop-login.ogg and _bak_system-ready.ogg (they may have a slightly deviating prefix, depending on what file you downloaded, like for example: _bak4_), remove the _bak_ (or for example: _bak4_) in front of each file, restart your system, log in (this is where you should hear the new system-ready.ogg), observe/listen to your desktop appearing (this is where you should hear the new desktop-login.ogg) - and enjoy (or cover your ears...).

IF YOU DO ENCOUNTER EMPTY LINKS, CORRUPTED OR MISSING MUSIC FILES WITHIN THE COMPRESSED ONES,
PLEASE REPLY WITH A NOTE HERE AND I WILL CORRECT IT.
