Why is it that when installing Ubuntu from the Alternate (text based version) on the more recently releases of Ubuntu like Maverick that the "bootable" function for the "/" boot partition does not work ?

The listing for the parameter is still on the listing but when you click or press enter key on that parameter it no longer toggles between bootable and not-bootable like it used to.

If this parameter is no longer necessary when creating a boot partition for Ubuntu (which apparently it is NOT, because even though I can not change the parameter to read "bootable", the computer does in fact boot to the operating system once the installation is completed), then why don't they just take it off of the partition parameter listing ?

Thanks.
